We are happy to accept unsolicited manuscripts of fiction and subject-English teaching resources.

Submission Guidelines

Fiction

We are looking for contemporary novels of up to 45,000 words for young adults (ages 12 to 16).

We are not currently considering works of science fiction or fantasy.

English teaching resources

We welcome well-considered ideas and proposals for subject-English resource materials that meet a real need in the high school classroom. If you have a proposal you would like us to consider, please email a brief outline along with your daytime/evening contact numbers.

Manuscript preparation

• Do not send an electronic version of your manuscript.
• Submissions must be typed and printed on one side of A4 paper. Use double spacing and margins of at least 2.5 cm.
• Ensure that all pages are numbered.
• Include the manuscript title and your name in the footer of each page.
• If your manuscript is illustrated, send sample illustrations (copies only).

What to send

• A copy of the complete manuscript.
• A short covering letter (with your full contact details).
• A brief synopsis.
• A very brief biography including previous (if any) publications.
• A brief outline of the intended audience and relevance to educational courses (if you are submitting a teaching resource).
• A stamped self-addressed envelope or postage bag of sufficient size (if you would like your manuscript returned).
• If you want to make sure that your manuscript has been received, include a self-addressed stamped postcard for notification.
